A strong tradition: From electric motors to power tools
Makita was founded in Japan in 1915 and grew from a company that focused, among other things, on the production, maintenance, and repair of electric motors. Around 1950, the company began producing power tools with the introduction of the world’s first portable electric planer.

Makita today: Powerful tools for professionals
Today, a century later, Makita has become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of power tools, with an annual production of more than twenty million machines. The essence has remained unchanged. Makita still focuses on one thing: designing powerful tools that make the work of professionals more comfortable and efficient. Makita believes this is best achieved through electric tools. Therefore, in 2022 the company decided to stop producing gasoline engines and switch exclusively to electric power. The future is battery-powered!

Three battery platforms for maximum power and flexibility
Makita has three major battery platforms: CXT (12V)LXT (18V), and XGT (40V max). Across all these platforms, there is a wide range of power tools, gardening equipment, and machines for cleaning professionals. Moreover, the assortment is continuously expanded with new tools and accessories. In this way, Makita consistently delivers innovation. When developing new machines, special attention is paid to safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Makita is known for powerful battery solutions and an unparalleled commitment to customer service.
